Welcome to dog training Wellington, I am Keith Mockett, your local Bark Busters dog behaviour therapist and trainer. Like many trainers, I came to Bark Busters after looking for help for our puppy Hendrix (yes, named after the greatest guitarist of all time!). Knowing how important it was to get the right things in place early, needing to deal with some puppy issues, and not wanting to use treats or harsh tools like shock collars etc, I was pleased to find the Bark Busters approach. I had never seen anything like the method, based on canine communication and with it’s focus on developing the relationship between the humans and their dog through a clear understanding of how dogs think and communicate, it is a natural fit for me.
At the same time, I was looking for a career change and discovered the franchise area for Wellington was available. Watching Mark Gall our Master Trainer from Christchurch in action showed me how well the Bark Barkers system works with different people, different dog temperaments, different dog types, and different behaviours. When I added in the training and ongoing support we receive from Head Office and our 200+ colleagues around the world it was an easy decision for me.
My natural love of dogs and a desire to help dog owners bond with their pets, made joining Bark Busters an easy decision.
If you are looking for professional dog training near you then you have found the right place. I work with dogs of all ages and have a kind, gentle, dog friendly solution to suit all temperaments and ages, with puppies from 8 weeks of age, teenage dogs, adult dogs, and aged dogs 14 years and beyond.
There is no behaviour problem we won’t tackle, as we understand all behaviour issues and are aware of what lies at the root cause of the problem, helping us to help dog owners with their dog’s behaviour.
Any Breed of dog
We work with all breeds of dogs big and small, such as Chihuahuas, Schipperke’s, Pugs, Bulldogs, Terriers, Poodles, Moodles, Cavoodles, Spoodles, Staffies, German Shepherds, Labradors, Dalmatians, Spitz, Collies, Huskies, Mixed Breeds, Labradoodles, and more.
Puppies need education and we recommend that their education and training be started as soon as possible and before problems such as barking, aggression or biting starts.
I’m excited to be working with dog owners and their dogs, helping the owners to address unwanted behaviours and issues like barking, aggression, toileting, pulling on the lead, rushing the door, jumping up, whining, separation anxiety, recall (not coming when called), digging, chewing, sibling rivalry, basic obedience, over exuberance and [insert your problem HERE].
We have dogs for many reasons and they bring us joy in so many ways, but unfortunately some dog behaviours can spoil or ruin our relationship with our dog. Unwanted behaviours also create unwanted stress for humans and dogs alike. No-one wants that.
I’m pleased to provide the Bark Busters system to dog owners and their dogs in Wellington and the Lower North Island. Our Gold programme “lifetime of the dog” support guarantee means our knowledge, experience, ongoing support and passion for people and their dogs is with you for the lifetime of your dog.
Knowing that I can help improve the relationship between owners and their dogs is very rewarding. Every day I do that is a good day.
Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to learn more about how I can help change your relationship with your dog for the better.
Maz is responding really well to the Bark Busters training. She responds immediately to being corrected and already seems a lot more relaxed, less anxious. I’ve even found her sitting on the deck listening to the neighbours dog barking without making a sound, two weeks ago she would’ve been barking like crazy in return. I know we still have a long...
