Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

16th February 2026 - Keith Mockett

Keith dealt with Aggression, Barking, Separation anxiety

In early 2026 I moved houses, away from a quiet off-street standalone house, to a multi-flat building on a busy street. The move was stressful for my dog, Arlo, who had her entire routine disrupted and had a new life in a house which smelt different, and where she could constantly see people and cars going past. She was stressed, and with moving being chaotic for myself her routine became incredibly disrupted. She was freaking out about being in her crate (and thus sleeping in my bed every night), pulling on walks and barking at other dogs and men, barking at anyone who walked past the house, and howling, barking, shaking, and running around anytime I tried to leave. I became trapped in my own house, having to cancel plans or only able to attend places she could come with me out of fear of annoying my neighbours with her non-stopping barking and howling when I was away. I had to keep the curtains constantly closed so she wouldn't bark at the people going past, and had my sleep constantly disrupted as she lay in bed next to me snoring and kicking me in her sleep. Having engaged Bark Busters back in 2021, and I contacted Keith who had availability to come over a few days later to help me reclaim a sense of normality. We went over different techniques to reinforce myself as the leader, and the expectations of Arlo. Over the few days after meeting with Keith, and continuous and consistent reinforcement of Arlo's behaviour as directed by him, Arlo was a new dog. She started sleeping in her crate again with no issues, walking at heel the entire time, sitting and watching people walk past the house without a single bark, and overall being a much more relaxed dog. Three days after my appointment with Keith, I was able to leave the house for several hours, and Arlo did not bark or howl once. Through watching her on cameras I saw her look out the window before curling up and sleeping for the majority of the time I was away. Regardless of me being away from one hour or ten hours, she was content and happy to remain by herself. Even more amazingly, while I was not there she would watch people walk past the house and not bark at them! I was able to start going out again and trust that she would be well behaved and the curtain could finally remain open. I can sleep throughout the night with her fast asleep and safe in her crate. She's a different dog to what she was when I initially moved. Prior to Keith coming over, I honestly thought I would not be able to ever properly leave my house again. I was stressed about being able to go to work, and was looking into paying a lot of money for doggy daycares or someone to come pet sit just so I could leave the house. So not only did Keith make Arlo a much more happy, relaxed, and trusting dog; he also saved my sanity and saved me a lot of money.

Thank you and WELL DONE! Your consistent and persistent use of the tools and techniques has got a great result in a very short time. Arlo knew how to do this she just needed you to re-establish your leadership, which you did with a bit of help as per our Life of the Dog Support Guarantee. Barking, Pulling, and Separation Anxiety are some of the most common issues we deal with and it's always uplifting for me to get this kind of feedback. Moving house and other major life events (e.g. relationship changes, babies) often upset routines and the dog's sense of well-being. Re-establishing your leadership gives them comfort and security. A happy dog makes for a happier house. Good job!

Mark dealt with Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Puppy management, Toileting

Second time back with Mark, originally had help with my american bulldog cujo who is now doing so much better and is like a new dog. Got a puppy, Hannibal (bull terrier x staffy) who is very excitable, chases the cat and didnt understand boundaries. After only a week Hannibal now doesn't chase the cat, waits when told and is a lot more easier to train. Will always recommend Mark to everyone, he helps make training dogs simple and easy to understand. Can't wait to see how Hannibal progresses as he gets older

Receipt number 67573 Cujo was a dog I saw many years ago as the Owner struggled with his size and wariness of new people etc. He came across and fairly aggressive , all of which is gone now so the owner called me in very early for his new dog a Hannibal , a Staffy x Bull Terrier, great pup totally different temperament and now he can channel things in the right direction. Starting from day one is important so bad behaviours don't start and then later have to be rectified. We do have some things to cover as Hannibal is a very young pup and not fully vaxed yet. Great work with both dogs team. See you next trip to Marlborough.

It was Exhausting alright. But I was very happy with the way Lewis (11 months old Great Dane) responded to his first session. He was confused about the rules and boundaries. Now he has leaders who understand him better!! Keep up the good work! My help is always available for you and Lewis 😊

Mark was incredible! I have 2 very naughty boys and I couldn’t even believe how much we accomplished in the first session! I would 100% recommend this training to anyone considering. I wish we reached out sooner!

Troper and Dexter are two large breed dogs , Border Collie x Golden retriever and Border Collie . Both anxious of the new 9mth old baby but also dogs who generally were in charge of the house. Greta 1st lesson and some awesome skills being applied by the owners has started the compliant , more relaxed household already. Some more work is required but the dogs are much less reactive to the baby soon to be toddlers movements and noises. Lots of other issues have been dealt with as well and I'm looking forward to the next session to fine tune the owners further. Greta work guys , catch up soon.

Mark really knows and understands dogs. He understands their personality and recognizes the reasons for the behavior then explains it all, with no judgment. A very positive experience, looking forward to the next training session early February. Thanks Mark.

Trainer note from Mark
Our first lesson was a remote video lesson to get the ball rolling before a face to face lesson was possible. Zed is a rottweiler x Staffy 7yrs old , barker at the gate pulls ,very attention seeking and due to Xmas incident I was called to help out and get him better with his pushy behaviours. The lesson went well but he definitely a pushy boy and a bit stubborn. Next lesson will be face to face and should iron out most of the issues.

Keith dealt with Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling

The barkbusters techniques and tips were easy to learn and implement and worked brilliantly with our canine friend. Close to six months on, we are still seeing great results and when things slide a little, we know it’s always down to our own consistency. With a little effort, we get right back on track. Thanks Keith!

Thanks, it's great to know you're making progress with a jumping Labrador x Huntaway. There are always slips along the way as life sometimes gets in the way. I'm glad you're able to get things back on track. Persistence and consistency are powerful attributes! We're available to lend a hand as per our Life of the Dog Support Guarantee. Keep up the good work!

Mark dealt with Jumping up, Pulling, Puppy management, Recall, Separation anxiety, Other

Mark did a great job in helping us to improve the way we were managing our puppy. His approach of explaining, showing then coaching ensured success quickly. I was surprising how when the tools he taught us were used we could see fast and effective results.

Ollie is a 4mth old Hungarian Vizsla , not this owners first as they have had several over the years . Young Ollie was testing them though so They called up a helping hand . We'll do several sessions as he grows mentally and physically but so far a great start to a well behaved pup. Puppy pproblems and separation the major issues and developing Ollies focus is vital. ice job team Ollie.

Mark dealt with Barking, Jumping up, Recall, Separation anxiety

I thought I had tried everything we could with Paddy, and I'd spent thousands of dollars on trying to placate a dog and mask the symptoms of his behavioural issues. Mark very confidently and within a very short period of time gave me the tools to address the root of Paddy's behavioural issues, allowing me to enjoy my dog again. This was our last resort, and my only regret is I wish I'd known about Bark Busters sooner!

- A.V, Halswell Christchurch (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Mark
Paddy is a 5yr 1omth old GSP x Labrador who's major issue is barking or more separation anxiety whining. Since moving house from country and not close neighbours the problem had increased. Other problems were also dealt with , pulling , door barking , Jumping up and recall issues. All signs of Paddy thinking he was the boss of the house. He and the family all did a great job on the day and I'm keen to her an update soon.

2nd January 2026 - Mark Gall

Mark dealt with Aggression, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall, Sibling rivalry

I cannot believe the difference in Claude my 18mth old Foxy x JR x Schnauzer after one afternoon lesson. He is a totally different dog. I wouldn't have believed it was possible. I heard of Mark through strangers at the dog park. I and my dog Claude are so relieved we are learning new ways which will make life so much better for both of us. There is another dog in the family, and he is very pleased with the changes in Claude!!

- C.F, Mt Pleaseant ,Christchurch (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Mark
Claude is an 18mth old Jack Russell crossed with a Foxy and a Schnauzer. Quite demanding and very attention seeking but the biggest issue was constant barking at any noises, arrivals, jumping up , dog reactive along with recall & pulling, also sibling rivalry scuffles with his brother Freddie when the adrenalines got up. initially it took a bit to get the dogs to relax but after a few exercises to develop the dogs focus they came to relax and and we could start the retraining process. They will test mum but much more relaxed already. Great job Claude and co.

30th December 2025 - Keiko Ruwhiu

Keiko dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall

Keiko was amazing and the right person/trainer that we've been waiting for. She was very thorough, knowledgeable, clear and positive about the improvement of our dog, Apollo. Apollo responded so well and is now showing signs of improvement even though we just had the initial meeting with Keiko couple days ago as she taught us some techniques and ways. My family is really impressed. Keiko was really great and looking forward to our next sessions.
